Sunday 16th March: The Best Western Sligo Southern Hotel Super League once again threw up some exciting results Boyle Celtic after a couple of poor performances came right with a fantastic four goal victory away to St John’s at Carraroe. The hit man Niall Brennan cracked home two great goals with James Carthy and Michael Corrigan rounding off the day for a jubilant Boyle Celtic who will now go into the quarter finals of the Connacht Cup on Sunday next on a high and rightly so after this excellent showing. City United keep the pressure up hitting Strand Celtic for six without reply Damien Scanlon Kevin Murrin Christopher Kelly Killian Sweeney Keith Nibbs and an own goal settled this one sided encounter, Yeats United has Seamus Cannon to thank for their victory at home to Real Tubber when on forty minutes he blasted home from close range to take all three points. Ballisodare United and Ballymote Celtic were scoreless at the break but second half strikes from Mark Mc Goldrick and Glen Mc Cormack won the game for Ballisodare despite a great fight back from Ballymote that included a brilliant goal from Colin Duffy. Carrick Town took the honours in this local derby encounter at home to Aughanagh Celtic toast of the Town was Liam Mc Tiernan who scored with a superb free kick twenty minutes from time. MCR maintain their drive for silverware in the Andrew Mullen Premier League they entertained Cliffoney Celtic at Sean Fallon Park leading marksman Ciaran Harvey bagging another two goals with Johnny Gilligan and Dean Ryan also on target while Alan Harrison pulled a goal back for Cliffoney. Merville United keep up the pressure winning well away to Coolaney United Cormac Coyne claiming a hat trick with Lee Marshall Conor O Grady and a penalty from Simon Gilmartin securing three precious points for Merville. Coolaney battled all the way with strikes from Paul Baker Alan Farry and a penalty from Martin Devaney but the day and the points all belonged to Merville. The Big Man Gino O Boyle and Barry O Loughlin were both on the mark for Glenview Stars at Celtic Park home of Boyle Celtic reserves on Saturday night and this was enough to bring home the points despite a fine goal from Dermot Beggan. The Cleary Landscapes & Pitch Maintenance Division One is proving to be unbelievable exciting and hard to predict with each week bringing amazing results Strand Celtic reserves travelled to Templeboy with high expectations to play Dromore Villa where prior to kick off a minutes silence was held in Memory of Fergus Feeney and Tomas Barrett RIP.
