Sunday 28th Sept: The only three unbeaten clubs in the Best Western Sligo Southern Hotel Super League are the leaders of the pack current champions Boyle Celtic on top were on FAI Junior Cup duty today as were second placed City United and Merville once again stamped their intent for major honours hitting visitors Carrick Town for five without reply. Gary Finan opened the account after only five minutes Malachy Spratt scored the second four minutes later and added the third on twenty three minutes Simon Gilmartin got his name on the score sheet to add goal number four after only twenty eight minutes and yet despite a terrible start Carrick Town settled down and held on till twenty minutes from time when Mickey Mc Dermott blasted home the fifth and final goal for a superb display by an inform Merville United. Alan Henrys Young Guns Real Tubber without a win were hosts to high flying and unbeaten Manor Rangers and what a turn up for the books when hot shot Jason Perry fired home a glorious goal that captured all three points for a jubilant Real Tubber. Yeats United under the astute management of Seanie Maguire welcomed Calry Bohs to the land of hearts desire and in an exciting encounter Yeats struck twice first from leading scorer Darragh Gaule and the second from Donal Gallagher to put Yeats United in fourth place on the leader board, Calry are capable of greater things and despite their second from bottom position they can and will make up a lot of ground but dont leave it to late. Swagman Wanders top the Premier League table winning away by the odd goal in seven to a very talented Coolaney United who scored with goals from Paul Baker, Joe Cobbe and Anthony Walsh and swagman went one better leading scorer David Heffernan on the mark as was Robbie Galvin and Paul Scanlon but it was the lethal boot of Eddie Devaney who nailed all three points in a fast flowing and attacking encounter. Carbury FC move menacingly into second spot winning well away to Kilglass Enniscrone United Emmet Lindsay netted the home sides only goal but goals from Robert Clarke, Conor Clerkin, Simon Kelly and Darren Dunbar was a sweet result for manager Adrian Conlon. Boyle Celtic Reserves recorded a fine victory over close neighbours Arrow Harps at Riverstown sharp shooter Dermot Beggan is back with two great strikes and Shane Battles netted once again for Celtic with Harps replying once through Ciaran Kilfeather. Ballymote Celtic shared the points in a six goal thriller at brother Walfrid Park Conor Meehan scoring a double and John Ward adding the third for Ballymote with Cliffoney responding courtesy of two goals from Christy Keaney and Sean Melody was on song to grab a vital point for the north Sligo side. Gurteen Celtic at home to MCR shared the spoils in this four goal clash Michael Doddy and Coly Mc Gill on the mark for Gurteen with Andrew Tiernan and Uvis Vitolins scoring for MCR. Strand Celtic Reserves and Chaffpool United shared seven goals in this game played at Strandhill Karol O Neill and the Big Man Donagh Oates each scoring twice to capture three great points while ace marksman Hughie Marren also scored two for Chaffpool and Declan Mc Laughlin added a third but on the day Strand just had the edge. Dromore Villa went down by the odd goal in three at home to St Johns Trevor Kilgallon on the mark for the Villa but strikes from Colin Feehily and Conor Brennan insured a welcome three points for a vastly improved St Johns. North Sligo side Benbulben FC are starting to find their feet an excellent display at home to Ballygawley Celtic seen them share the points in this four goal encounter thanks to strikes from Lee Currid and Gerard Brady while Jimmy Reilly and Killian Harte responded for Ballygawley. FAI Junior Cup: Bangor Hibs game at home to Aughanagh Celtic was postponed due to a bereavement and will be played now on the 12th November elsewhere Ballisodare United went down by the odd goal in five away to Urlar while City United with goals from Colin Jinks Gareth Kelly and Niall Mc Kenna accounted for Mayo side Conn Rangers who scored once through Dylan Rice Strand Celtic had a tremendous result at home to Glen Celtic hitting five without reply Ryan Lynch the hero of the day with a blistering hat trick aided and abetted with further strikes from Barry O Mahoney and Ronan Walsh while Boyle Celtic won away by three goals to two against Roscommon side Cloonfad.
