Sunday 3rd November 1pm Lunchtime Concert Centred around a new work by Brian Inglis exploring the highly specialised genre of concerto for solo piano, this event brings together piano solo and duet music from the Anglo-American experimental tradition (works by Morton Feldman, Cornelius Cardew (February Piece II) and Laurence Crane (Piano Duets). 4pm Ishirini / Gina Fergione Innovative young chamber choir Ishirini comprise a group of adventurous singers who, as well as undertaking international tours to Tanzania, India and Jordan, have been consistently active in commissioning new work since their formation in 2009. This concert brings together some of these commissions with contemporary works by more established composers in their repertoire. Including pieces by Diana Burrell interspersed with contemporary organ music. Gina Fergione presents music for solo voice by John Cage, Nicola LeFanu, John Woolrich, Lisa Reim, Jonathan Harvey and a premiere by Christopher Scobie. 8pm Spoken Word [Venue: Ryan’s Bar, 181 Stoke Newington Church Street] The culminating event takes place in the more informal surroundings of Ryan’s Bar. Following our spoken word event at last year’s pilot, where we traced a trajectory from prose through poetry to spoken word music, this performance by Matthew Lee Knowles and Adam de la Cour presents John Cage’s classic spoken-word piece Lecture On Nothing, paired with its older predecessor, Kurt Schwitters’ seminal Ursonate in a unique interpretation, featuring several feet of tubing and a special guest. Interspersed with classical DJ-ing.
