Sunday 5th October /BGA Jack Taylor Trophy Foursomes / Turton on track for the treble with a resounding 5-0 away win against Bolton Old Links. With the BGA League and Championship trophies safely tucked away Turtons pursuit of the treble got off to a flyer last Sunday with a resounding 5-0 win against Bolton Old Links G.C. Old Links had the avantage with 3 of the 5 matches played at home. A crack of dawn start at Turton (7:30 a.m.) saw Jeff Dykins & Shaun Bannister secure a 5&4 win with Stephen Greenough & Mick Heaton also winning their match 2&1.That left the 3 Turton away pairings only needing to win one match to take us through to the next round. We came away from Old Links winning all 3 matches. Alan Dixon & John Drabble won 3&1, Liam Ball & Billy Dempsey also won 3&1 and the youngsters Callum McPhillips & Marcus Scholes completed an unanticipated whitewash with a fine 4&3 win. In spite of the result the guys from Old Links were magnanimous in defeat and all of the matches were played in extremely good spirit.
