Swagman Wanderers with a goal each from Paul (Pip) Scanlon and Wesley Mc Gowan took all three points at home to Strand Celtic reserves and doing so earned leadership of the Andrew Mullens Sligo Pallets Premier League. Ballymote Celtic suffered a shock defeat at home to St Johns in brother Walfrid Park Keith Lynch with ice in his veins scored twice from the penalty spot and Conor Brennan banged in a third for a jubilant St Johns who now move into to second spot on the leader board while Conor Brew scored Ballymotes only goal. Cliffoney Celtic continue their excellent form Christy Keaney bagging two great goals and Owen Hever smacking home a third at Forthill to dismiss the challenge of Carbury who replied once with a Daniel Smith strike. Boyle Celtic at a tough assignment away to Mayo kingpins Castlebar Celtic and would it prove a bridge to far. But cometh the hour Cometh the Man Boyle went and conquered in convincing style Luka Roddy and Niall Mc Crann with a goal each and up stepped the irrepressible Niall Brennan firing home two glorious goals to insure Boyle marched triumphantly into the 5th Round of the Cup The Aughanagh Celtic versus City United was not a game for the faint hearted with these two giants of local football locking horns in the National Cup their league clash in September seen City just edge ahead winning by the odd goal in three would it be a repeat performance. Well the simple answer to that was No City hit a twelve goal salvo while Aughanagh Celtic could only score twice their cause not been helped with the early dismissal Paddy O Grady but this will be a game Aughanagh will want to forget as quickly as possible while City in this form were just unstoppable.
