Sunday, August 31 2 Corinthians 8:1-14 A WEALTH OF GENEROSITY Out of the most severe trial, their overflowing joy and their extreme poverty welled up in rich generosity. 2 Corinthians 8:2, NIV The Macedonian churches exemplified Jesus by their life of generosity. The fact that they were going through tough times and severe hardships did not debar them from fulfilling the law of Christ; out of their poverty, they gave much more than expected. Paul said the Macedonian brethren considered it a sheer privilege to minister to the needs of the saints. In fact, they were pleading for the privilege of helping out in the relief of poor Christians! This is an outpouring of pure and generous gifts. It means they valued the work of sharing in the needs of other brethren more than anything else. This is real brotherly love. One way to make love practical among us is by giving generously. No matter your condition, there are people that God has put their ‘foods’ in your hands. Your generous giving will touch their hearts more. Judging from the lives of the Macedonian brethren, you do not have any excuse not to bless lives. It is God’s will that every need among brethren be supplied, and you are important in that role. So, whenever you hear of brethren in need, be a Macedonian Christian. Consider it a privilege to be a blessing to your brother or sister in Christ. Know that, God is keeping the records. • Birthday Blessing: “And the Lord sent an angel, which cut off all the mighty men of valour…in the camp of Assyria-” 2 Chronicles 32:21 Read Bible Through Passage: Psalm120-131; 1 Corinthians 9 Success begins by focusing on what you have and not focusing on what you don’t have. – Anonymous
