Sunday December 28 2014 Moroni 10:20 Wherefore, there must be faith; and if there must be faith there must also be hope; and if there must be hope there must also be charity. Moroni 10:20 Faith and hope are companion doctrines. Indeed, in some passages of scripture the words seem to be used almost interchangeably. To have faith in Christ is to believe in him, in what he has done, and in what he will yet do for each of us. To have faith is to have complete confidence, total trust, and single minded reliance upon the merits and mercy of the Master. Hope is not worldly wishing but rather anticipation, expectation and assurance. Those who have true faith in Christ will have hope in Christ and feel the assurance, born of the Spirit, that they are on course now for eternal life hereafter (Moroni 7:40-42). Out of faith and hope in Christ, charity, the pure love of Christ that Paul identified as the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22), begins to manifest itself in the life of the believer. Having enjoyed His love, we are able to extend that love to others. Having been given much, we too may give.
