Sunday February 1, everyone at Living Word is encouraged to bring their old shoes to worship. Well pile them high at the alter! Then later that night 6-12th graders bring all their friends and all their friends shoes to the Shoe-Per Bowl. In the past weve collected over 2,000 pairs! Later that night, from 5:00 pm until the end of the game, Living Word will host a Superbowl party on a 27 foot screen. We have an obscene amount of food. Most importantly, we partner with George The Shoeman Hutchings to collect used shoes. Shoeman Water Projects sells thousands of pounds of shoes every year for pennies per pound. With the money they receive they build wells in developing countries. So we get rid of old shoes that take up space, folks in developing countries get access to cheap shoes, and people receive fresh water. It is amazing equation that you can be a part of. This is one of our best events of the year: what could be better than football, food, and serving all at the same time?
