A great product speaks for itself, doesnt it? Are you comfortable explaining the Canada Labour Code? Are you comfortable explaining how common law is differs than Part 1 of the Canada Labour Code? I dont think many of us are, do you? How is it possible that people are making informed choices when it comes to joining a union? They probably arent! The real message from any of us, let alone the Others, should be: get informed, hear all sides and then make the choice that you feel is best. Not this sheeple mentality of signing a union card because someone you know did. There are pros and cons of union. Be informed. Dont sign because a friend did, sign because you understand what signing means. It is so discouraging flying the line hearing FAs signing union cards because three years of service and they believe they never should have to work the holidays again. Yup, that was just told to me on my last crew dinner. Why sign a union card for that, I asked; because all the new hires should have to work the first two Christmases, I was told. So what happens when there are no new hires in the last two years, I asked. Blank stare, was the only response. I agree that there should be a fairness to who gets the holidays off but a junior FA signing because they had to work Christmas is akin to cutting if your nose to spite your face. Careful what you wish for! Make informed decisions and understand what a union can and cannot do for you. Imagine that our current fabulous representation actually posted on their forum and Facebook page, ...if everyone who voted yes gets two more friends to vote yes, well have this in the bag... - is that not the stupidest youve heard?! This is yet, again, why our current fabulous representation is the better model; they continuously said vote as you please, but please just vote and ask us questions through a whole host of different ways to reach them where they actually answered questions DAY and NIGHT. Choose wisely folks!
