Sunday I crossed another thing off my bucket list. Okay, it wasnt actually on my bucket list but I have been wanting to do this for a lot of years. I wont tell you the exact location but I will give you a hint and say Rt 872. So look at the pictures and you will see what I am talking about. This tunnel though the bowels of Cameron County is about 500 feet long and although you may have passed over it hundreds of times, you may not have realized it was there. I have wanted to walk the creek bed through this culvert for probably 30 years but you need to do it when the water level permits passage. Its an interesting walk and amazing when you look at the method used for construction. It was formed out with 6 inch wide boards to from the arch, which is quite amazing considering its probably 15-20 foot high, very wide and about 500 feet long. The one pic shows Jeanne walking into the long tunnel while another shot was taken as we neared the exit on the far side. The other picture shows the highway a long ways above.
