Sunday, March 23 - First, put you luggage in trunk Then Manoah asked the angel of the Lord, “What is your name? For when all this comes true, we want to honor you.” - Judges 13:17 The Israelites were again under the rule of another nation. The Philistines were a very pagan people and very cruel. Israel found themselves enslaved once again because they did evil in the sight of the Lord. Having abandoned him years ago I think they had come to the conclusion that God was dead. But, we see over and over again throughout the Bible where God always has His remnant of faithful believers. This must have been true with Manoah, for he says two times, when all this comes true. Apparently in Monoahs mind it was as good as done. Isnt it fascinating how many times God comes to a barren couple and declares they will bear a son when He is about to do something for the nation of Israel in His redemptive plan for mankind? But, consider in this case that, unlike Sarah and unlike Zechariah, Monoah displays no unbelief whatsoever. I see this as an exhibition of great faith. Believing faith. This is the kind of faith that pleases God. If you had been there in his home at that time you would have heard him tell his wife, Honey, go set up the nursery. Or, like the missionary buddy to the pastor in Gods Not Dead movie, Wait, first put your luggage in the trunk (have to see the movie to understand that one). There are only a few instances in the Bible where the reincarnate Christ, the Lord, appears in human form to mankind. There are no published photographs or artist renderings of what he looked like. So why wouldnt Monoah ask this angel his name? Whether he was an emissary of the Lord or the Lord himself, Monoah believed the message he had heard. But - Gods not dead. He is surely alive! And He confirms that fact to Monoah and his wife. As the flames from the altar shot up toward the sky, the angel of the Lord ascended in the fire. When Manoah and his wife saw this, they fell with their faces to the ground (vs.20). They then worshipped a living God, a God that loves His children and hears their cries. Let hope arise and make the darkness hide...My Gods not dead, Hes surely alive..Hes living on the inside...roaring like a lion. Listen. Do you hear the roar?
