Sunday March 23, 2014; 60 miles N of WIPP; 100 min total count, back up. 50 CPM current background radiation. Partly cloudy, 50 degrees, wind 5 mph. For comparison 25-35 CPM would be considered normal background, 35-45 affected by radioactive activity natural occuring or from a toxic event occurring nearby, 45-70...WIPP site affects such as The Leak. Over 100 would be a radiation alert of a spike in activity. Why wont the Argus, DOE, WIPP contractors, Carlsbad Chamber...make these numbers public and be a little more transparent?? Im sure they are taking counts for their employees at the site.
