Sunday, March 9, 2014 Understanding My Offense Scripture - The Lord spoke to Moses: “Tell the Israelites: When a man or woman commits any sin against another, that person acts unfaithfully toward the Lord and is guilty. (Numbers 5:5, 6 HCSB) Observation - Fundamental to the Law of Moses (and indeed the fulfillment of that law known as the Law of Christ or the Law Love) is this key concept I must never forget: When I do wrong to another person, I do wrong to my Lord. Not only is that other person fearfully and wonderfully made by God - created in His image, that person is one whom Christ, in His Mercy, has died for. This is why Jesus said, whatever you do unto the least of these, youve done unto me (Mt 25:40). Application - Do I comprehend the weight of overlooking, ignoring, despising, or mistreating another person? How is The Lord challenging the way I think about, speak of, and act towards others? Prayer - Heavenly Father, purify my heart today. Cleanse me from the self-righteousness that would rail against others. Give me new eyes to see people through the lens of your mercy, new lips to speak blessing not cursing, and new hands to help and not harm. Amen. I agree.
