Sunday Mornin Hope : Pay it forward Mt 25:40 - And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me. You want to have some fun? Take some poster board and make giant posters FREE CAR WASH. Then get about 20 friends and do a car wash. We wanted to show people the love of Jesus Christ in a practical way. Oh the joy of watching people try to pay for something that was free. One of the first cars was a fairly new Caddy. The owner was man of muslim background. He owned a local car lot. When we finished, he allowed us to pray with him. Then he reached in his pocket and pulled out a wad of huge bills. Actually it was a huge wad of major bills. It was folded over and was about three inches thick. He wanted to give back, but no one would take it. He offered it to the kids and they refused. We gave him a hug and moved onto the next car with about the same response. This had to be one of the best days of my life! I heard about a drive thru (a few years ago) where people would go to the window and pay for the car behind them. This became so contagious that the owner set up a college fund with the excess. People enjoyed giving more than their bill. A few years ago our church was privileged to house about 100 people from the Katrina Hurricane. When the news picked up the story and found out the people had needs, it went crazy. Within hours there was a line of cars and trucks bringing everything from beds to furniture to clothes to money to food to........ They just kept coming. We had several nurses from our church offering their assistance. After they set up a room with curtains, some of the local surgeons came over to help. One of the doctors asked the nurse what he could do. She turned to him with some money and said Go to Penneys and get some bras. and he did. Ac 20:35 - I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive. Theres something in the human spirit that wants to help and bless others. God put that there. You might never make the front page or the nightly news, but who cares. Thats not the reason you do it. You do it because its right. I think everyone is born with a heart to give. But when someone evil comes along and steals, things might change. I say might because theres a resilience in many that will just keep on giving. Matthew 14:13 When Jesus heard it, He departed from there by boat to a deserted place by Himself. But when the multitudes heard it, they followed Him on foot from the cities. 14 And when Jesus went out He saw a great multitude; and He was moved with compassion for them, and healed their sick. 15 When it was evening, His disciples came to Him, saying, This is a deserted place, and the hour is already late. Send the multitudes away, that they may go into the villages and buy themselves food. 16 But Jesus said to them, They do not need to go away. You give them something to eat. 17 And they said to Him, We have here only five loaves and two fish. 18 He said, Bring them here to Me. Jesus set the example for all of us to follow. Most times we will be tested when we are spent. When we have nothing left to give, someone will ask for one more. Jesus said Bring them here to Me. Joh 15:13 -Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down ones life for his friends. Jesus Christ did the ultimate pay it forward when He laid His own life down for our sins. Actually God topped that when He sent His only Son to pay the price for our eternity. He paid a debt He didnt owe. We had a debt we couldnt pay. Thats my Jesus. Do you know Him? I mean really know Him? Hes really crazy about you. Dont ask me why. Sometimes we dont see a lot of value in the one in the mirror. But He does. Pay it forward, what a great idea.
