With pride and reputation at stake as well as much needed points, the battle at the bottom is every bit as important as the fight at the top, for the teams involved… The Bruce. At 1 – 1 Bruce Captain Paul Clarke saw his chance for the Bruce to regain the lead slip away as he was punished 2 – 0 by Kieran Nelson. As the match looked to be getting away from them, Bruce lifeguard Rob Graves waded in and made sure the Bruce didn’t drown with a 2 – 1 sinking of Adam Forrest .The game leveled at 2 - 2 a touch of Magic from Rob Daniels, as he made Kieran Nelson re-appear in the singles. With no further use of smoke and mirrors Rob took a 2 – 0 win. At 3 – 2 to the Bruce and with the Nags a player short. The Bruce’s Rick Corke could sit back, relax and taste the sweet wine of victory without having to throw a dart. 4 – 2 … Although the doubles went to the Nags the Bruce had the win and that too them was all that mattered. Well done Brucie boys !!! Spinners 3 V 4 Queens ‘B’… Scorecard photo supplied….. Returning from the darkness of a long losing run with a win in their last match. The terracotta’s were hoping to carry that form forwards into their match this evening against the Sporting ‘B’. Regardless of league position this is the first season for this brand new team and no one can deny that Sporting are enjoying their darts nights immensely. Both teams would welcome a points injection for their respective table positions so who would emerge victorious…….. Sean Pegg opened proceedings against the Flowerpot’s Pete Birkinshaw.Pete took the first leg and could not be pegged back in the second winning the first game 2 – 0.Geoff Wood took the next for the Pot without conceding to Dan Rimmer. Like the spider and the fly..The room of legends awaited the Bruce ‘B’ this Monday night at the Lord Byron. Not so much seduction but destruction may have been more appropriate for what was in store for the Bruce… The First game of the evening saw Matt ‘Baby face’ McAllister up against the Bruce’s Trevor Goodey. As Matt devoured Trevor 2 – 1 it was certainly a case of Goodey,Goodey yum yum…. Next the dazzler Daz Jackson served his sermon and buried Roger Graves 2 – 0. At 2 – 0 up The ‘Poets’ Scottie Newton squeezed everything out of Dave Gibbs with a 2 – 0 pounding. More Gibbs misery was then laid on as Howard ‘Mad-Dog’ Maddocks took care of Steve Gibbs 2 – 1.Thus at 4 – 0 up the Byron had it won…. The ‘Poets’ however have an internal policy…More pain…more gain..Next the Technician Tec Leach took care of Derek Turner 2 – 1… 5 – 0 then became 6 – 0 as Steve Clarke taught Eddie Bainbridge a lesson in manners… The doubles followed suit as the Bruce were skittled 7 – 0 by those nasty boys you wouldn’t take home to meet your mother …..
