Sunday, November 18, 2013 10:25AM EST Tides been pushing water from Gulf of Mexico back up into the Bay - Tampa Bay and the Boca Ciega Bay. I can tell for we live on a man made island shaped like a palm frond. From my patio I can see water is being pushed in towards canals head. Afternoon high tide is pinned at 3:30PM today but I doubt forecasters have this right - a massive body of water is as if oscillating and searching for a way to stabilize. Temperature differences probably act as pockets for storing hydraulic potential energy. We did have a rather sharp drop in Gulf Coast ambient temperatures a couple of days back with most US states from Oklahoma across to Georgia, Alabama and parts of Florida under hard Freeze warning. Even though scheduled Hi-Tide is about 5 hours away, water level in the canal behind my home are getting close to the perma-hi-tide-line as marked by the relative colors on her sea wall. Current marine projections are calling for a +2.5 feet swell relative to normal. Lets hope their calculations are correct. I am concerned about another hard arctic blast sweeping South by South East out of Canada. That could make things interesting.
