Sunday, September 29, 2013 @ 10:30 am "Early Christian Beliefs - Three Hundred Years of Conflict" Douglas Hill Early Christian beliefs were very diverse. After three hundred years of conflict, the emerging dominant Roman Catholic Church decided on which writings were to be included in the New Testament. These “winners” decided what to include. But why were the twenty other known gospels excluded? You will be introduced to the Jewish Christian Ebionites, the anti-Jewish Marcionites, and the Gnostic Christian Valentinians. You will also be introduced to A New New Testament, which was just published this year. Douglas Hill has been a Unitarian most of his life. He studied this topic since it interested him, and has organized his thoughts into today’s presentation. He has also spoken about “Why I am not a Christian: the argument from the New Testament”.
