Sunday, September 8, 2013 While listening to CBC’s “Cross Country Check-up” and all manner of informed and concerned individuals expressing their dismay over someone or other’s “SELECTIVE MORALS” with regard to events in Syria, I am asking myself how it is that the working conditions in the developing world (For example: India, Africa, and Bangladesh - where recently over 1000 people died when a factory, condemed a mere 24 hours earlier, collapsed.) are so easily ignored by the west. “Ignored” IS the appropriate word. Factories in these developing countries are and have been FOR DECADES manufacturing all manner of things sold in Canadian stores. I can only assume that it is NOT CONVENIENT for Canadians to be concerned about working conditions in the developing world…. After-all, everyone needs the latest version of I-pod and more clothing in their closets at an AFFORDABLE price.
