Sunday Sermons….Nov 17 Did you notice how busy it’s gotten when you’re out and about lately? Sales everywhere, people stressing about the upcoming holidays, what to buy, etc. When did society lose track of what holidays are all about? It’s not about buying someone the most expensive gifts, or the greatest number of gifts, or buying kids all the toys they want. If you haven’t shown someone love throughout the year, buying them something is not going to impress them, (or if it does, it will only be for a minute); unless all they care about is “stuff” ; not you. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we started a new (yet old and meaningful) tradition among ourselves this year to give something thoughtful to those we care about. A handwritten letter (remember stationary?)…a lovely card with a handwritten note in it. Send them a cute, funny photo of yourself and family. If you bake or cook, make something yummy for those special people. (I know it’s been hinted to me to get busy again with my Rum Cakes for the holidays!) Regardless of your beliefs - Jewish, Christian, etc., look inside your heart, not the local department store to find just the right sentiment for what should be a joyful season; not one of obligation or stress. The joy of giving is not about how much you charged on a credit card, but the heart and thought you express to people. What better gift than showing and communicating what’s in your heart. Ronne
