Diana Jordan Allende Daylight Savings Time Ends Storycorps founder David Isay recalls stumbling into his calling early on with his interview of a couple determined to establish a museum of addiction before they died from AIDS. On a borrowed tape recorder, he says, he pushed play and record simultaneously to capture their voices, to capture their spirits. Play and record sounds to me like what we do as human (merely) beings with agency and memory. Each year on our Day of the Dead observance, we bring mementos (photos, flowers, artifacts) for our altar, and we share stories of those whose lives play on in our memories, one record of their journeys.
