Sunday Tidbit (July 28, 2013) What to do when a recipe calls for buttermilk and you have none in the refrigerator. How do you make a substitute? Very simply, the ingredient usually can be found in a kitchen. Lemon juice or white wine vinegar, and whole milk is what you need. A ratio of 1 cup whole milk and 1 tablespoon lemon juice or white wine vinegar for every cup of buttermilk needed for the recipe. You let it sit for two minutes and Voilà! Buttermilk you have in hand. Make the cake, salad dressing, dessert or the great pancakes. Everything will be so light, so airy, and delicious. With Marvelously Good Thoughts, Queen Grace
