Sunday Update on Cats: Beau remains happy and content with mama Martha Waters- truly a match made in heaven. She says he hasnt stopped purring yet! Madeleine- trapped today and into Central Texas Cat Hospital for serious weight loss. She has an elevated WBC (infection). Well crate her until her labs come back. She was retested routinely and continues to show neg/neg. Hannah- Also in to CTCH this morning. Shes been exceedingly grumpy and she got a once over to make sure nothings going on with her to make her extra grumpy. Nothing found on physical exam but we did routine labs. She came from Arlington Shelter last year with a false FeLV+ diagnosis. Retested once again today and she remains neg/neg. Pretty Boy- eating and acting like himself with Tuxie on the upper decks. Comes down for treats. Still good days ahead for PB even with a CRI diagnosis. Buffy- diagnosed with an extremely rare bladder worm. Shes been completely indoors since her arrival. Im not sure how long bladder worms can live in the bladder so I dont know when or how she got this. She had become very flat, no appetite and generally not doing well. We thought it was the leukemia becoming active. When Dr. Smith did a UA he saw Capillaria Feliscati eggs in her urine - something that even he or Dr. Reynolds had never seen in their careers. She is being treated and we expect a full recovery. Gizmo- Diagnosed with feline heart worms. (Mosquitoes) He is under long term treatment at the Sanctuary and again we expect a full recovery albeit a long one. Wally- Continues to eat and to move around at will but its becoming increasingly obvious that Wallys time is short. He is losing weight and his breathing is changing but as long as he is eating and he is not in distress we will take it one day at a time. Wally is a favorite (dare I say that?) and came from the Arlington shelter with an FeLV diagnosis. Cindy, Carol and Dawn continue their TNR in support of SCs mission. Yesterday we combod (neg/neg) one of Cindys fosters that um... if shes not careful.... she may not get adopted out! Thats whats going on with the kitties at the Sanctuary and in our TNR.
