Sunday afternoon, leaning back in a recliner, resting my head and patiently waiting for the protest to begin. I am reminded laying in bed at the hospital recovering from the toughest physical challenge I have ever had to face! It was in that hospital bed that I realized what matters most isnt necessarily the monetary things or being number one but appreciating life, how to live it to the fullest while still helping others, how to give to less fortunate even if I dont have it to give, how to love more deeply when the one you love is there by your side. That is all I thought about for 5 days straight. I learned to not complain anymore and never take for granted your health. I learned that peoples lives have meaning and giving people a chance or a step up in life will carry you far. I guess what I am trying to say is, I spent my whole life trying to change other peoples lives for the better when deep down inside they were helping change mine and prepare me for what lies ahead. With the world constantly changing and people becoming less patient, we should really open up and help people heal the hurt they see abs go through everyday. Its never to late and nothing is too important that you cant introduce yourself to someone and say hey, how are you doing, do you need anything? We may never fully understand what the Ferguson fight is really about, we may never know the real truth about who was at fault, but no one had to die that day, and the world didnt have to end for some. I get that we are all searching for answers, but make sure you ask the right questions for the answers you seek, and know what your purpose or direction is in life, and if you dont, ask. But make sure you ask someone whos made it, has compassion and genuine care for other people and the lives they want to lead. A good friend of mine lent me this quote today, and I believe it holds true for all, I am okay with Protest, but I am not ok with Unrest! We all have choices even when we think we dont and our backs are up against the wall. Stay strong, stay safe, and stay focused!
