Sunday afternoon the team was called out to rescue a hiker that had injured his leg. He and his hiking companion were located just East of Warren Lake. Smokey conditions prevented a quick helicopter recovery. Twenty four team members responded and approached their location via access through Carpenter Valley. After a hard climb, the initial team reached the subjects after dark on a rocky ridge above the valley. The rest of the team with litter and ropes gear followed. It was determined that it would be too dangerous to bring him off the cliff in the dark and a request to Care Flight was made to see if they possibly fly in and retrieve the subject. After several attempts, Care Flights helicopter settled on a large rock under power and the subject was hot loaded and transported to the hospital. The team and subjects hiking companion then hiked back down the cliff and transported back to the command center. Thanks to the team members responding. its been a busy year.
