Sunday evening update: Jan has had a pretty restful week:) So nice having her home. She has been feeling quite well in-spite. The low blood counts dont help with energy but she has enjoyed some normalcy We attended the childrens outside parade at the elementary school (Hunter and Andrea) Watched from afar but still..... Also got to do some trick or treating with the kids. Awesome!!! (I went as doc rick and Jan as his hot patient) The port is doing well now that doc rick is on the case. (Just kidding:) St. Josephs home care nurse came over last week and trained me how to properly flush her ports. (Thought I already........not going to go there. Ha!) Anyways, that scares the crap out of me. Mess it up, I give her the bens, or start a septic infection. (No pressure) Well..I passed with flying colors. Officially,nurse Rick is on the job. Still home so I guess were good there. The darn bruises she acquired from all the let me try it attempts at getting into veins have started to heal up now as well. The plan: We leave Tuesday evening for buffalo, there we stay at the glamorous double tree hotel for the evening. Jan will get her bone marrow aspiration at 9:00am Wednesday. I guess from there jan will rest and maybe do some site seeing around Roswell till the afternoon. Jan is going to have consolidation at Roswell (sorry crouse). She has been accepted by the leukemia team there for this. Steps: 1 the leukemia specialist, dr wang:) Will review the slides of her marrow 2 jan probably will be admitted at Roswell on Thursday. 3 she will receive a clinical trail drug to help build platelets prior to consolidation to help speed up the platelet recovery after the consolidation. 4 stay on site for recovery. (Time frame unknown just yet) 5 possibly move right into BMT directly following the consolidation round. The plan as we are told is to have Jan out of buffalo by spring time.
