“Sunday in the Park-2013” (press release) Once again, the time of year has come for outdoor concerts and what better way than “Sunday in the Park”! The planning of the popular Sunday evening concert series has again been organized this year by Chris Coyea. This summer the concert series will be starting on Sunday, July 7t h at 7:00 p.m. in Hardy Park. “The concerts have been incredibly popular with Brockville audiences and last year’s record number of attendees again confirmed just how important they are as a part of our summer life in beautiful downtown Brockville” said Coyea. This summer, we are hoping to present eight concerts, which are: Sunday, July 7th at 7:00 p.m. : “The Brockville Concert Band”: Come spend an enjoyable evening with “The Brockville Concert Band” under the direction of Lance Besharah. This concert is sure to be a hit with the whole family and will feature our wonderful local musicians in a program of magical and uplifting arrangements scored for the concert band. Sunday, July 14th at 7:00 p.m. : “Alexander’s Big Time Band”: Come join Musical Director, Bruce Alexander and his Big Time Swing Band for an evening of those wonderful musical memories of the 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. The Band will be joined this summer by guest soloists Christopher Coyea, tenor and Alex Fleuriau Chateau, Bass. Bring the entire family for an evening that’s sure to be a crowd pleaser. Sunday, July 21st at 7:00 p.m. : “ Deborah Dunleavy and Saxology”: features a variety of entertaining stories interspersed with a lively blend of jazz, march and pop music…crowd pleasing favorites that span the decades! The members are Brockville and District Hall of Fame inductees Bruce Alexander, Howard Alexander, Judy Quick and Hall of Fame Orchestra/Brockville Concert Band member Mike Fowler and last, be certainly not least, story teller “extraordinaire”, Deborah Dunleavy! Sunday, July 28th at 7:00 p.m. : “Allison Hess and Joey Herbison”: Come join Soprano, Allison Hess, Baritone, Joey Herbison and friends accompanied by Christopher Cennon on piano. These talented young professionals will dazzle you with selections from the Broadway repertoire both past and present. Don’t miss this one! Sunday, August 4th at 6:30 p.m. : “County Road 5”. Once again we are pleased to feature this popular local group known for their wonderful renditions of bluegrass, country and gospel. Come join Barry Garvin, guitar, Christine Smith, Banjo, Dan Potter, Mandolin, Jim Spooner, Bass and Dan Buch, fiddle as they pick and harmonize their way through an evening that is sure to have your toes tapping! Sunday, August 11th at 6:30 p.m. : “Ribfest”. Sunday, August 18th at 6:30 p.m. : “A Gospel Hour”: featuring soloists Anne Landon, Allison Hess, Pam Poehlmann, Christopher Coyea, Joey Herbison, Alex Fleuriau Chateau, pianist Christopher Cennon and the St. John’s United Church Choir. The evening will include many of your favourite Gospel and Spiritual Classics (“How Great Thou Art”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “He Touched Me”, “Blow, Gabriel Blow” “Joshua, fit the battle of Jericho”, “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” and “Leaning on the Everlasting Arms” to name but a few). Sunday, August 25th at 6:30 p.m. : To Be Announced! *Please Note* -The start time for the August Concerts will by 6:30 p.m. which will allow for the earlier sunsets. -In the event of rain, the concerts will be held at 1st Presbyterian Church located on the Corner of William Street and Church Street next to the Court House. -Sunday, August 11th is the “Ribfest” Weekend at Hardy Park and there will be no “Sunday in the Park” concert. Come join us and don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs, blankets and mark these dates on your calendar!
