Sunday is Father’s Day and education was very important to many of the early “fathers of philanthropy” who gave millions during their lifetimes. Their legacies live on today through the museums, educational institutions, libraries and endowments they created. Key West has its own “fathers of philanthropy” and David Wolkowsky is one of them. He decided to focus his philanthropy on teachers and has been bestowing Teachers of Merit Awards since 2001. CFFK’s President Dianna Sutton writes about Mr. Wolkowsky and this year’s deserving award recipients in her column to be published in Sunday’s Solares Hill newspaper.
