If you would like to donate to her care please PM me and Ill send you the information for the vet. Cleopatra came into the animal services at Ft Worth with 3 puppies. Very underweight. Its unclear if she was an owner surrender or a pick up but regardless it was obvious she had lived a hard life. I was contacted abouit her the day that they were going to put 57 dogs down. I contacted an out of state rescue who said sure well take her. just go get her and take her to be vetted. So thats what I did. Once getting to the vet the extent of her illnesses became shockingly evident and the rescue decided that they no longer wanted to back her. . Not only was she heart worm positive but she was in congestive heart failure. The vet was shocked not only that she had survived having puppies but that she had survived the spay surgery at the pound. Bottom line, she was very, very ill. But I couldnt give up on her. Every time I was ready to let her go, she turned a corner. I speak with the vet every Wednesday and go to visit her. She is gaining weight and her heart issues are being controlled with medication. Her medications will be around $250 per month and she will need bloodwork every year to 6 months to check her levels and see where her heart is. We are doing slow kill for the heart worms. She needs to go to a lazy home. Although she gets along great with other dogs, she needs to have her exercise and play time very limited. Bottom line, she just needs love and medicine. Theres no way to tell how long shell live or if in the future she would be a candidate for surgery to correct the defect she was born with. Right now shes very happy and loving and is just enjoying life as much as she can at the vet. Everyone who meets her falls in love. She really is a special lady.
