Sunday is looking like a busy day with chances for severe weather through much of it-especially in the afternoon (see forecast details in previous post). Damaging winds are possible, as well as large hail and even an isolated tornado. How to prepare: -Have a charged cell phone, car charger for your phone -Have batteries for radio, flashlight -Secure loose outdoor items (patio furniture, kids toys, plants, etc). -As the storms approach, bring in your pets -Stay away from windows during the storms (most injuries in severe storms are from shattered windows) -Have a way to receive severe weather warnings (esp. if you lose power) NOAA weather radios are great-cheap buys too. Cell phones are good too. -Make sue you are set to receive severe alerts on your phone for the overnight hours or if you are outdoors during the daytime. Have the volume on and loud. -If a tornado warning is issued for your town, head to a basement or the lowest level and most interior room of your home (a closet is always good-anything away from outside walls). Keep a radio or cell phone with you and check for updates on the warnings. If you are in a trailer, make a backup plan to move to a sturdier building in case of a tornado warning. Just be safe and prepared for severe weather tomorrow. Stay indoors when storms are occurring and monitor the radar and weather updates through the day. No need to panic, just be vigilant. We will keep you informed on the latest!
