Sunday message 11/24/13- Commitment To Apply Gods Word- 2Peter 1:19-21- As Gods people we are responsible to apply Gods word to our lives. if you dont receive Jesus you cannot and will not apply His word to your life. scriptures says the word of God is of no private interpretation(loosening or untie) we are not called to loosen or untie Gods word but to apply (take heed) His word, our lives will be well when we do so. When the commitment is made to apply Gods word to your life, there are somethings that you will experience, as seen in the lives of those who applied Gods word to their lives that Jesus ministered to during his personal ministry on earth. 1. Resistance- John 5:10- Jesus instructed the man to carry his bed and walk, the man applied Gods instructions to His situation got up, carried his bed and walked and was immediately met with resistance from The Jews. when you commit to apply Gods word to your life situations expect to meet resistance from yourself and others, but dont stop applying Gods instructions. 2. Recognition- (the ability to see)John 9:1-7- The blind man was instructed by Jesus to go wash in the pool of Siloam, after Jesus rubbed his eyes with spittle. The blind man applied Jesus instructions to his circumstances and came back seeing. You gain the ability to understand and see life clearly when you apply the word of God to your life. 3. Renewing- Luke 17:11-14- ten lepers cried out to Jesus for help. Jesus instructed them to go present themselves to the priest, they applied Jesus instructions to their situation and as they went they were cleansed. When you apply Gods word to your life He renews you, makes you better than what you were before you had the issue.Gods word instructs his people to renew our minds, this only happens by applying Gods word daily. Jesus told these lepers to present themselves to the Priest, the Priest were in the temple. God has designed His Church as the place to help you apply His word. 4. Resolve- John 9:25- Resolve= To make a firm decision about something- After the blind man applied Gods word to his life and met resistance and was faced with being put out of the synagogue, He made a firm decision about Jesus, He told the religious leaders I dont know what you believe about Jesus, but I know what He did for me. he could not be shaken, applying Gods word produced a resolve about the truth in his life,that Jesus is the only answer.
