Sunday morning 7/27/14 Report: Housy is dropping nicely, Under - TopicsExpress

Sunday morning 7/27/14 Report: Housy is dropping nicely, Under 1,500 like I guessed (1,410cfs & steadily decreasing as I write this), 7am water temp of 68 degrees (not bad for late July!), and clarity is up near 2 feet- not clear, but definitely fishable for those of you who want to hit the Housy today. Think nymphs (Stones & Princes are prob best bets today) and streamers fished near the banks- target seams between slow & fast water, look also for drop-offs, and obstructions that break the flow. At 1,500cfs & below, while still a decent amount of water, the Housy becomes more defined & easier to read. Cloudy & mild this morning. Smallmouth Bass & Trout are both possible on the Housy today (mornings are best for trout, and on milder days also try dusk to dark). Local streams & brooks are also a good option for trout if Housy isnt to your liking today. Great time of year to do a float for Housy Pike, weve already caught some really nice fish in 2014, and the conditions for later this week & next weekend are setting up to be just right Id say. Please respect the Thermal Refuge areas (trib mouths & spring holes), closed 6/15-9/15 to protect the trout during hot weather. Hasnt been an issue in 2014 due to a good amount of water & cooler weather, but the regs still dictate that you cannot fish within 100 feet of the signs posted in these areas. -Torrey
