Sunday morning. I hope everyone is relaxing or doing what one - TopicsExpress

Sunday morning. I hope everyone is relaxing or doing what one might on a November end of the week day. I wanted to update you all about my situation. Although pathology after the double mastectomy came back super great, I will still have to undergo (or I should say in-it-goes) chemo… for five months. It has to do with the fact that the cancer was very aggressive and I need a certain drug that works much better if given in conjunction with chemo. The drug I need will continue to be given for 7 months after that to equal an entire year. In order to receive this cocktail, I will have surgery on Tuesday to get a fancy port put into my chest. No sailors come with. Chemo will start sometime within the first two weeks of December and by the new year I will no longer need to shave or worry about bad hair days. I am sufficiently scared, and certainly have a host of emotions (too many to write about which is odd for me to not just type em on out to you) but to complain would be an insult to all the other women (and some men) who have gone before me and to the women who lived in a time period before the advent of treatment that just may have saved their lives. If you see me during the next year, please put a post it note on my shiny forehead reminding me of this so when I look in the mirror I will see it and then I will take it off and put it close to my heart, port and all. I took these two pictures and sent to a friend after finding out I needed chemo. My way of trying to get a feel for me without locks. Did I spell that right? Not the kind with a key. Well, that too.
