Sunday morning, June 1, nearly 3,000 bicyclists will pass through Holly Springs during the second Ironman Raleigh competition (ow.ly/xctWn). As cyclists come through, drivers, please expect delays. Cyclists will enter the town from the west on Avent Ferry Rd. and turn north onto NC 55 between roughly 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.; travel along the bypass and turn right onto Old Smithfield Rd.; and continue along Sunset Lake Rd. and turn left onto Optimist Farm Rd. between roughly 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Race organizers expect the heaviest bicycle traffic to pass through Holly Springs between 9:30-11:30 a.m. HSPD will be on the route directing traffic.
