Sunday morning hangover after a night celebrating the 25th birthday of a really decent young man. Loads of vibrant youthful people full of life and endeavour (and us old fogies!) with years ahead of them. Capable, resourceful and ambitious. Capable of making their own decisions. Resourceful in finding their own way. Ambitious for their future. September tomorrow and the day is fast approaching. Its really all I think about now. Always been part of my life and now its almost real. Im not ashamed to say that at times I greet with fear of failing to grasp this opportunity. Really struggle to understand why anybody wouldnt want to. Try hard but cant. Sorry. Anyway sure you all know whats coming over the next few weeks? Lots of ordinary punters in their thousands giving of their time in hope of a better future against the machine, Project Fear. You cant do this, you cant do that, youre incapable, youre needy, youre stupid, youve nothing and so itll go on. We are none of these. But there are no depths that Project Fear is not willing to sink to so be prepared. Prepared for the onslaught of doom and gloom headlined by the inevitable fictitious terrorist alert/threat in the lead up to polling day. You know its coming as a justification for being part of this disunited kingdom. Be ready. Its bollocks. Karyn MacKenzie and I are fortunate. We have a fantastic life. Made some great decisions and been lucky. There really is nothing we want for but its not the same for many folk despite the wealth of our wee nation. Poverty in Scotland today is real. Dont let anyone kid you. The UK has different priorities. Money for Trident but not to regenerate our societies ravaged by decades of Thatcher and Blair. We can start the process of change. Now. 18th September 2014 really is that important. Please give careful consideration to what you do. Close with the best question Ive heard in this long campaign. Bugger all to do with oil or currency. If WE really would be better together, why arent WE better together now?
