Sunday my wife Heather Kelly took it upon herself to surprise me - TopicsExpress

Sunday my wife Heather Kelly took it upon herself to surprise me :). She masterminded my getting rewarded at Scarborough Faire catching me completely off guard (pun there). She told me something was afoot, yet kept me in the dark whilst deceiving me with distractions, such as hints of needing to learn court dancing etc. With the aid of some very special persons: James Patyrsun and even Richard Patterson (Srgt Major & King Henry VIII), she pulled it off beautifully. So near 5:00 pm after the Childrens Knighting Ceremony, our Srgt Major called all the Yeomen present to form up at attention. And before I knew it I was called forth in front off all present (and there were many people present, Yeomen, Officers, Royals, Paytrons, etc). Our beloved Srgt Major (comrade, friend, & of course Faire Family) presented me with the honor of being the first recipient of the Sergeant Majors Cross (see earlier photo). Its meaning was amplified by the true emotion shown and choked back as I was presented with this great honor! The wife was in tears Nd my sons were ever stoic and respectful during the lovely ceremony. I am truly lucky to have a partner in life who cares about me :). Thank you to all, I am truly and deeply humbled! Here is a excerpt from our most awesome Srgt Major: Every year it falls to the Sergeant Major of the Royal Guard to seek one individual yeoman that is the embodiment of everything a Yeoman should be. Therefore, it is my honor and privilege to present the Award of the Sergeant Majors Cross to Yeoman Sir Aaron Kelly of the North for I personally wish to honor and respect this man for all his accomplishments, both on and off duty. On duty, he has a very long and distinguished career in the Royal Guard of 11 years service. He has performed every Royal Guard duty to the satisfaction of his Corporals and Officers. In fact, Sir Aaron has done his duty exceptionally well, with a calm, quiet determination. But even more important than his performance of his Royal Guard Duties, off duty Sir Aaron has chosen to live his life with a personal Code of Honor by raising his two sons honorably and with service to them and to his wife as the head of his Household in the great Viking tradition. To support his boys and his wife, Sir Aaron sacrifices his Saturdays in the Royal Guard to earn a living. Thus, in the Sergeant Majors considered opinion, Sir Aaron is the absolute perfect example of all that a Yeoman of the Bodyguard of the Royal Guard should be. ~ Sir Bernard Blade, Sergeant Major of the Royal Guard I was then Knighted simultaneously by both their Majesties King Henry VIII and Queen Margaret of Scotland. And of course I was congratulated and Huzzahed by too many to name throughout the rest of the day! Its hard to pull one over on me and Huzzah to your success :).
