Sunday, we are however called to reflect on the life of Mary for the sorrows she endured and the simplicity of heart with which she submitted herself to the will of God. During this month also, we shall commemorate our Lady’s birthday (September 8). We are therefore called to imitate her heroic virtues of patience, perseverance and purity as we conduct the affairs of our Christian lives. September no doubt ushers us into the “ember” months which providentially are harvest months in our Archdiocese. Harvest is a time of gratitude, thanksgiving and praise when we bring back to the Lord of the Harvest the fruit of our labours in appreciation of his inexhaustible mercies, unfailing faithfulness and endless love upon us. May the month of September bring us good tidings and blessings. Amen. The Year of Faith: the year of Faith is gradually coming to a close. How fast time flies! Let each of us at this point begin to examine how much we have taken advantage of the opportunity the Year of Faith has afforded us to renew our faith. How do we assess our journey so far in line with the Church’s aims and objectives for this Year of Faith? For those who are yet to avail themselves of this unique opportunity to encounter Christ and deepen their personal faith; it is not too late to begin now. In our Archdiocese, our programme for this month is Help to the Needy. We encourage all Christ’s faithful to avail themselves of this opportunity to put a smile on the faces of those in need of our help. Let us bear in mind the words of our Saviour when he said: truly I tell you whenever you do these to the least of these brothers of mine, you do it to me. (Matt. 25: 40).
