Sunrise is a magical time in my view. Sitting quietly on my porch, sipping coffee and listening as nature awakens to another day. It is a time one can not but smile and welcome what may come. From silence to the sounds of squirrels scampering through the trees, the tentative bird whistles to sing hello to their neighbors. It is marvelous but can not compare to sunrise at the beach. Rarely does the beach take a break that includes silence, the stereo soundtrack constantly reaching your mind. On land sunrise as well as the inevitable sunset give promise and hope for another chance to seek joy and contentment with all. As welcome and wonderful as this may be I can not help but believe in some way this demarcation between light and dark, silence and noise is a sad substitute for sunrise at the beach where the sound of waves breaking upon the shore solidifies the knowledge that life is not a slide show that begins anew with each period of transition from light to dark or dark to light but is a never ending movie always progressing with or without someone witnessing. A continuous unending opportunity for growth. Smile and enjoy.
