Super Eagles’ head coach Stephen Keshi on Tuesday in Kaduna expressed satisfaction with his team’s performance against Burkina Faso, assuring that the team would get better with time. The Eagles beat the Stallions of Burkina Faso 4-1 in an international friendly at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna. The match was part of both teams’ preparations for the final round of the Africa Zone Qualifiers for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. Speaking at the post-match press conference, Keshi said the goals his team scored during the game were to him not the important aspect of the match. “It wasn’t the goals, but the fact that the game was meant to perfect tactics and help the players to have a better understanding of themselves,’’ the coach said. Keshi said he had seen a fighting spirit in the players since during their 2-0 win over the Flames of Malawi on Saturday in Calabar. The win over Malawi was both sides’ final Group F match in the qualifiers’ second round, with the victory earning the Eagles the group’s lone final round ticket. “I am happy they are improving, and I am confident the team will do better because we have been giving some other players chances to show what they can do,’’ the coach said. He however said the Burkinabes’ lone goal during the game showed that the Eagles would have to work hard. “But above all, I am happy the players played well and were good in their marking ability because they have come to understand the teaching and coaching we have been giving them,’’ Keshi said. Also, while speaking at the press conference, goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama commended his teammates, saying he believed they were moving higher to achieve their goal. Enyeama, who was the Nigerian team’s captain during the match, said there was cordial relationship among the players. “There is a cordial relationship in our team, and I want to praise my teammates because all of us played well,’’ he said.(NAN)
