Super Exclusive! Lagos PDP Chieftain Dupes Job Seekers; Bode George, Fasehun’s Connection August 12, 2013News0107 By Omogbolahan Adisa A chieftain of the Lagos State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) named Otolorin is currently smiling wherever he is as his bank account has swelled to a huge proportion. Reason is that the man, in connivance with some people has succeeded in fleecing some job seekers of the hard earned money promising them jobs which never came. For a brief history, Oto as he is popularly called, used to be one of the security men attached to a chieftain of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Cardinal James Omolaja Odunmbaku. When Governor Kayode Fayemi assumed power in Ekiti State in October 2010, Oto was seconded to him. However, thegazellenews investigation revealed that there were several complains of breach of security perpetrated by the man leading to his being removed from the security of the Ekiti State Governor. On assumption of office, Governor Rauf Aregbesola of the Osun State also absorbed the man into his security team. As the leopard which never changes its spot, Oto was also reported to have been causing many security breaches for the Governor leading to his being removed again. Few days later, he surfaced in Lagos and declared for the PDP at a ceremony attended by top shots of the party including former National Deputy Chairman of the party, Chief Olabode George. With his full membership of the PDP, Oto went to work. Thegazellenews learnt that he started by raising a political group called Democratic Youth Alliance (DYA). Members of this group meet every Sunday at Century Hotel, Okota, owned by founder of Oodua Peoples Congress (OPC), Dr Frederick Fasehun. At the weekly meetings, thegazellenews learnt that Dr Fasehun was always present somewhere around the hotel hence he was aware of what was going on. However, our source stated that the man may not be involved when the issue of money started coming into the matter. It was during one of these meeting that members were informed that 1,000 jobs are waiting for them at the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) but not road construction. Members were however informed that they have to purchase a form which was valued at N300 each at the initial stage. With the rate of unemployment in the country, youths naturally would jump at any programme that promises them jobs hence membership of the group continue to increase weekly. As membership increases, the price of the form also increases. From N300, the price jumped to N1,000 from where it grown astronomically to N10,000, N20,000 and an all time high of N25,000. Overall, more than 3,000 job seekers bought the forms and they were chasing 1,000 jobs and one strange thing about the whole issue was that no applicant who purchased the form was allowed to go home with it. “We were asked to fill the form immediately and submit,” one of the applicants toldthegazellenews. After a while, those who purchsed the forms were asked to report for medicals which took place at Jokotola Hospital, 5, Fola Ojikutu Street, Ago Palace Way, Avenue Bus Stop, Okota Isolo. But the medicals only took place after the job seekers have paid N2,000 each. After the medicals, they were asked to pay N300 each for passport photographs and the contract for this was given to the wife of Otolorin. After this, they were invited for a three week training at Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi (FIIRO) where they were asked to come with cutlass, broom and bucket each. At the training ground, the applicants each paid N700 for a handout. But they could only trained for only one week before they were driven away by soldiers who stated that. According to our source, the training involved parade and mainly physical exercise. When they were training at FIIRO, Otolorin’s wife also took the contract for feeding the applicants. After they were driven away at FIIRO, they were taken to the FERMA ground close to 7up area at the Old Lagos-Ibadan Expressway toll gate. One interesting aspect of this was the involvement of Chief Olabode George. According to our source, the applicants have met with Chief George on more than one occasion. At one of the meetings, George allegedly berated Otolorin for allegedly jumping the gun saying that he (Oto) was too fast in carrying out the assignment given to him. At another encounter with Bode George, the applicants were reportedly invited for a screening which turned to be serving as mini-security at a party held in honour of the former Military Administrator of Ondo State. While the training at FERMA was going on, each applicant was also asked to pay N32,500 for uniform. Oto and his men has dedicated account at Access Bank where applicants pay. “We were just given the account number and we pay at any Access Bank branch,” another applicant said. The account number is 0030611857. The applicants were also driven away at the FERMA ground with Oto telling them not to worry that the jobs are still coming but they would not work at FERMA as earlier promised. For over two months after that, Oto ran away to Abuja and became incommunicado and on coming back, he came with another story, the jobs are ready and would be out in a week but with a condition – all applicants must again shell out N5,000 each to purchase another set of forms. Applicants again rushed to buy the forms and since then they have not seen Oto while his master, Bode George is reported to be away in America.
