Super Hero tip no 12. This tip is a real time saver when doing that most demanding of super hero tasks - shopping. When you approach a checkout with your shopping and someone is already there (another shopper, being checked out). You dont want to put your things on the conveyor belt in case they get mixed up with the shopping of the customer in front, who would most probably be very reluctant to pay for your shopping anyway. What can you do? How can you checkout? Heres the top tip: study the area very carefully paying particular attention to the part of the unit behind the checkout operator. Theres always a small bit of worktop at the rear and it usually has items on it that have been forgotten by customers or items that were too expensive once scanned. Look carefully at this area using your super hero vision and you will see something carefully hidden there - it is a piece of plastic about a foot long shaped like a toblerone chocolate bar and it often has the name of the store on it and some message next customer or suchlike. Reach over the conveyor saying excuse me please and pick it up. Put it on the conveyor belt immediately behind the shopping of the person in front of you and voila - you can now speedily unload your own shopping and rapidly progress through the checkout. You have deftly and efficiently separated your items from those on the conveyor and have, at a stroke removed all confusion over billing, invoicing and ownership of the items. If you are not too overcome with self congratulation (sometimes a weakness of mine I admit), carefully observe the checkout operator when they remove your plastic tobler spacer thing to see where they hide it this time. Careful observation of different checkout opertors will pay dividends in the long run as you begin to identify and remember their hiding places.
