Super WOW. A gal goes on a 6 mile run and comes back to be humbled by confidence and congratulations of my helping to advance the mission of Georgias WIN List: To Recruit, Train and Support Democratic Pro-Choice Women. Im looking forward to a strong year with a board of women committed to progressing the organization and to shrinking Georgia by connecting women (and the men that support us!) in political leadership at various levels & various capacities across the state. Relationships brought me to GWL and I hope that my leadership demonstrates the importance of relationships to deliver more representative political leadership to Georgia. There are many progressive organizations in Georgia and I hope that relationships pull us together like pieces in a puzzle and we can celebrate, support and raise awareness about the opportunities & challenges that people across Georgia face. Thank you to Megan Sparks - Back in 2011 or so, we were phone banking for Obama and she was like, have you considered doing more stuff in politics...I think you should learn more about Red Clay Democrats. Later that year I received an inbox from Anna Beck then GWL ED, Hey you should apply for this leadership training program with Georgias WIN List. The program demystified the process of running for process and introduced me to some incredibly smart women like Monica Lindsey Ponder. Then I remember getting a call from TJ Copeland. After missing the mark the first time around, he encouraged me to apply again to New Leaders Council - Atlanta. I learned so much about myself, others and gained tactical skills necessary to be successful in civic leadership. And one of the cornerstone relationships. Portia Spencer. Born in 1924, 2 years after women were granted the right to vote...yet blacks still struggled with access to voting she would make me watch Meet the Press and always stressed the importance of voting. She also knew no strangers. Her spirit lives on through me as I take on a wild ride to contribute to Georgia Democratic politics. #GaWomenLead
