Super excited to learn earlier this week that an old friend, Tino Cuellar, was appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to be the next member of the California Supreme Court. The Governor couldnt have picked a better jurist with tremendous integrity, decency and energy. Tino embodies a great American story - he grew up in Mexico, walked through the border crossing each day to attend school in Texas, received degrees from three Ivy League schools, served for Presidents Clinton and Obama, and became a Stanford Law professor. He also married my college friend Lucy Koh, the first Asian American federal judge in the Northern District of California, and has adorable kids.
