Super long, but worth the read:Summer is a season of fire. Fire - TopicsExpress

Super long, but worth the read:Summer is a season of fire. Fire means change, both good and bad, sometimes under your control, sometimes not. Apparently Summer 2013 means change for The Quilted Valkyrie. Last week, I had a customer complaint that she never got her gear. Having spent 2 days looking over my notes and books, I saw I created the item, but not shipped it for some reason. I could find no record in my Etsy accounts of the final payment. There were a few other items missing as well, so I emailed Etsy last Wednesday with the information. Not wanting to upset the client (a family photographer from Kentucky) I decided to mail her the gear. Etsy got back to me yesterday to inform me that she was a scam and that she figured out a way to send the funds and immediately withdraw them therefore making it look like she had paid for the item. It took them 5 days to get back to me. They then, in the next breath, informed me because I had fees from last month not paid, and that if I didn’t pay them the full amount by the 21st they were terminating my account. Without getting into financial details, they take a decent sized chunk in fees over each item plus the additional cost of advertising. So, (taking a HUGE breath) I’m going to take the leap, tell Etsy to kiss off and pull Valkyrie to another eCommerce site. This means I loose 98% of my marketing. I can’t even BEGIN to tell you just how terrified this makes me. So I need your help. By Friday I will have the site all set up and out of Etsy’s control. I sure could use some marketing love from my Family & Friends. I can communicate through FB, and blogs, and Twitter and IG, but if I don’t have the people, I can’t get the sales. As you can see I”m now getting bags made for laptops and gadgets and I should have more to purchase by next week as well as 10 camera strap sleeves and 10 camera straps. If you all wouldn’t mind passing the word around about Valkyrie, I’d truly appreciate it. This is my dream job; I’ve been wanting to do something like this for years and years, and I don’t want to give up just because of dishonorable people and a company’s greed. Thank you a head of time, and just like Dory says, “Just keep swimming, just keep swimming....”
