Supermans Spinal Fluid Is Clear!!! That was the best news weve gotten since his surgery. Today was a big day...not only did we receive those amazing results but we also made the decision to take Logan to San Diego to do Proton Radiation Therapy instead of staying here to do traditional radiation therapy. We have been very worried about the long term effects that can occur with radiation. The two biggest long term side effects are developmental and hormonal problems. He can also suffer from hearing and vision loss. After getting the news about the spinal tap we had two doctors from the Mayo Clinic stop by Logans room to talk to us about radiation therapy. They ended up speaking to us about the proton therapy and how it can dramatically reduce the risks of the long term side effects. We will have to be in San Diego for around 6 1/2 weeks and its definitely going to be tough but so worth every bit of it. Our next big hurdle is that in order for us to do this Logan must be out of the hospital and to San Diego within the next two weeks. Logans tumor is considered a grade 3 tumor which means its the most aggressive for his type of tumor. The doctors told us today that since his is so aggressive he must start radiation two weeks from now in order to have the best prognosis. The only thing left for Logan to do before we can be discharged is for him to be able to manage his secretions and start swallowing. We know miracles do happen and that Logan is one tough cookie who makes the impossible happen. Please continue to keep this little man in your thoughts and prayers. Thank You!!
