Supper tonight, after an afternoon of running a chain saw to clear - TopicsExpress

Supper tonight, after an afternoon of running a chain saw to clear the way for the transplant of a Camellia bush: grilled chicken thighs, baby bella mushrooms, bean sprouts, and rice, with a sauce of Hoisin, ginger, and Thai peanut sauce. Lindas wine with it: Summit Estates Riesling. My wine? Well, lemme tell you: Total Wine in Columbia is expanding into a larger store next door. In prep for the move (grand opening next Weds) theyve got several tables full of wine marked down by 30%. On one of those tables was this wine. totalwine/eng/product/elderton-friends-shiraz-cabernet/114344750 OK, its fruity, and it will probably not do much for those who prefer Vin de 2x4 for its dryness. But oh, how lovely this is! Its probably the Hoisin, peanut sauce, and dark meat, but even with chicken and bean sprouts, to my admittedly pedestrian palate it goes very, very well. BTW: The wine advisor with whom I spoke said they started the day with a full case of this wine. By 4:30 pm, when I got there, there were 5 left. I got 3.
