Supplement Skepticism Over the years, I have read hundreds of comments like the following: Supplements are a scam. Just lift, and eat real food. No supplement will give you the gains that a proper diet will. No natural supplement is going to give you even half the gains youd get from steroids. Frankly, none of these statements stand up to scrutiny, as they are all based on some kind of false assumption about what it is supplements are supposed to do. Supplements are not intended to replace food or function like steroids. Supplements are intended to improve performance, cognition, vasodilation, recovery, insulin sensitivity, and so on - and they do that. In short, criticizing supplements for being unlike food and steroids is akin to criticizing an interior designer for not being an architect. Skeptics, in offering these objections, merely reveal their ignorance of that which they criticize.
