Support Group Meeting-Celiac Disease Foundation Saturday, October 18, 2014 10:30a.m. to 1:30p.m. San Dimas Community Hospital 1350 W. Covina Blvd., San Dimas Our meeting this month will feature Pasta and fresh canned tomatoes by Jovial. Jovial is a company in Italy that makes pasta and now fresh canned tomatoes. America’s Test Kitchen’s new cookbook recommends Jovial spaghetti as their top spaghetti pick. America’s Test Kitchen says “it has high fiber and protein, a low/slow drying process, the delicate and thin brown rice strands were “springy” and “rubbery,” without gumminess or off-flavor that plagued other brands.” Their new product, Tomatoes, are grown on site, ripened naturally, are flavorful and sweet, packed in glass jars (BPA free) with no additives of preservatives, salt, citric acid or calcium chloride. They pack the uncooked tomatoes whole, cubed or crushed with the juices that have been cooked down to a delicious puree. Check out their web site. I am sure in the past you have had Simply Shari’s Gluten Free delicious cookies. After a horrible ski accident, the owner/Founder Shari Cole is back in business. She is now distributed and sold at Whole Foods, Ralph’s, Albertson’s, TJ Maxx, and Marshall’s. Besides all of the wonderful cookies she now has pasta meals, Mac & Cheese and Pasta with Marinara. Shari is also based very near us in Thousand Oaks. Located back in Kentucky, is a wonderful new Gluten Free company, Bloomfield Farms Gluten Free. This company was formed when Sue and Dan Sutherland’s youngest granddaughter was diagnosed with an egg allergy and Gluten Sensitivity. They were dismayed to discover only a limited amount of good quality GF food was available. The dream they had for their granddaughter to be able to enjoy good GF foods can now be shared by all. Their facility is completely GF and they are certified by CSA, Celiac Sprue Association and GIG, Gluten Intolerence Group. Pot Luck Gluten Free Lunch Please bring salads, side dishes or desserts to share. In addition, please bring 20 copies of your recipe or box/bag it came from. People need to see ingredients because of allergies. Raffle for Gluten Free foods Every month we have a huge Raffle. Anyone can bring items to add to the raffle. Do you want to share with us a new item you found or one of your favorite GF items? Our raffle pays for mailing of our meeting notice to people without computers and to buy lunch plates, forks and tablecloths.
