Important that as many ppl as possible write a submission to the Senate Inquiry on the Business Services Wage Assessment Tool Bill 2014. Some examples of the inequities of this Bill are as follows: 1. The Bill is designed to defeat a legitimate court action that is based on existing decisions of the Federal Court and the High Court, it is a desperate bid to avoid paying employees with disability a fair wage. 2. Employees with disability will be under pressure into signing away their legal rights, for a sum of money that is just 50% of what they should be paid. 3. The Secretary of the Department of Social Services may appoint nominees to act for persons in relation to the BSWAT payment scheme even though the Secretary has a conflict of interest. 4. Although there are various matters that the Secretary must take into account, they do not bind him. Thus he can take into account whether the participant has a guardian, but he can still appoint someone else as a nominee. 5.There is no restriction on who can be appointed as nominee – there is no exclusion of persons who may have a conflict of interest with the participant.
