Support for flooded businesses Small and medium sized businesses which have been either directly or indirectly affected by flooding since December 2013 can register their interest in receiving a Government grant of around £2,000 to £3,000, to assist the recovery process. Please contact Customer Services. The Department for Business, Innovation and Skills have announced that local authorities can apply for extra funding from the Government’s £10 million Business Support Scheme. Any business directly or indirectly affected by flooding from December 2013, are eligible to register with their local council (Spelthorne Borough Council) to receive a government grant to assist with the recovery process. Directly affected business: damage to property, material and stock damage, exceptional costs not covered by insurance (e.g. hire of drying equipment, water pumping devices,) rent of temporary accommodation and loss of trade due to closure. Indirectly affected business: significant loss of trade due to drop in footfall, lack of access to transport, road closures, forced closure of premises, staff unable to travel work etc. To register please contact [email protected] with the following information: - Contact name - Name of Business - Address including Postcode - Telephone Number Brief description of how flooding has affected your business in no more than 100 words maximum including whether impact was direct or indirect In order to help the Council maximise the funds it receives from Government, to in turn enable it to provide the greatest support to the Borough’s affected business. Please note separate arrangements will be put in place to provide 3 months business rates relief for those businesses which were internally flooded.
