Supported by Education and Business Leaders WGU is a private, nonprofit university governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of educators, industry leaders, as well as state governors. In addition, WGU continues to draw support (though no state funding) from the governors of the Member States that were instrumental in the founding of WGU. Another critical source of support for the university is our National Advisory Board (NAB). The NAB is comprised of representatives from prestigious corporations and foundations that provide ongoing support and advice to the university. Current members of the NAB include: Hospital Corporation of America (HCA) Dell Computer Hewlett-Packard AT&T The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Sun Microsystems View complete list of NAB members. If all works the way I am planning, this will be my new Graduate Degree College. Has many obvious benefits. Cost, schedule, and look who is at the top of the NAB Board, the corporation I work for. This university has a private mentor that is with you from start to finish. You learn what you need and test and prove what you already know from experience so you are not paying for relearning what you already know. We all know how frustrating that can be. WGU works around YOUR schedule and not your work around their schedule. You pay less than $3,000 every 6 months so you can cram in as many studies in that time as possible and not have to pay by the credit hour. Also, because HCA is on the NAB for this university, I may be able to get much more tuition reimbursement. The list goes on. I will keep checking into all the pros and cons and keep everyone posted. So far this sounds like the way I am going to go to finish my graduate program. : )
